Just a few new additions needing help!

1. Little Mama shares a crate with her 4 pups. She is a little Red Heeler mix. She came in as a stray. It would be wonderful if someone would step up to foster her and her little family.

2. Punkin, came in with pups and all were adopted. She was left behind.She is a little Red Heeler mix, and has been in a foster home for such a long time. She weighs in at around 25 lbs, and just as sweet as can be.

3. Mary is a sweet little lab mix puppy held up front. She loves to play with humans and with other dogs. Would you please share her?

4. Hope...You may ask why she was named Hope. She is determined to be a female Pit Bull breed She came into the shelter on Jan 3, weighing all of 31 lbs. Picked up as a stray on 415. Available on 4/19. Wally is a really nice dog. Very eager to please, playful, and friendly. Wally will sit the minute you ask him to, no coaxing this guy with a treat. And you can see he is quite the handsome fellow too. Surprised this big guy wasn't adopted as soon as his stray hold was up.

A volunteer writes: Jada is one fine doggie, from her nose to the tip of her tale. She's 100% quality, and though she may be a bit older (8 years old) than the other dogs, truly she's as spry and enjoyable as any of the younger dogs I've been with in the past. Jada is so adorable and affectionate and so much fun to be with. And she's totally, on the ball, on a walk ... She knew where to do her business, she didn't pull a bit, she was attentive to me, as her walker and she made me proud to have her by my side. Jada is also very pleasing in the looks department, with her overall brown color and white chest, paws and some on her face, she's quite the looker. After our walk I took Jada to our dog run, letting her run, romp and play. She loved getting scratches, being hugged and sneaking in those loving doggie licks when ever she could. Jada knows some commands too, like "Sit". Her favorite was playing fetch with the tennis ball, running with vigor, at my every toss, retrieving it and bringing it back to me faithfully, so we could do it all over again, which we did, over and over, and over again. What a distinct joy and pleasure it was to be with this animal. So ... With this said, I'm urging you to please come down today to our Brooklyn Care Center and meet with Jada. Don't delay, this doggie is aching to meet and become your doggie for the rest of your life, to be your loving companion and friend. Do it ... It's going to be one of the best decisions you've made in a long time. Another volunteer writes: Jada is a very refined middle-aged lady. She has some Beagle in her background as well as other breeds. She is polite. She doesn't bark at dogs. She ignores cats and birds. She doesn't pull on her leash. She is fond of sitting next to you on a park bench where she will sneak an occasional lick of your face. Please consider making Jada a part of your family. If you do, you will come to view the day you adopted her as one of the best days of your life.

DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

EDDY'S SAD TALE

Many of you know Teddy...he is a Chow x between 8 and 9 years old,who has been here for several months....He is a low maintenance guy,doesn't bother a soul...he is fine with dogs and birds,but no cats or toy breed dogs...He just wants to take a walk,sniff around the pen and then sit by your side...Doesn't someone want him ?

I told him long ago,that he earned the right to spend his Golden years in a nice home..I told him his family would be here soon...and so he keeps looking for them...he looks everywhere,up in the trees,out the front gate,in the window of the office...Sometimes he sees someone approach,so he quickly trots to see if they are here to see him,but they always pass him by....He even practiced sitting in my back seat,so he could learn the polite way to travel home.......

Biscut has had a time of it. First she was given to a elderly woman who was put into a home. At that point some one took her out of the woman's yard. She then ended up at the local kill shelter when she was found running stray.

That is when we came back into her life (we where assisting the woman with her animals before she went to the care home). We pulled Biscut out of the shelter, got her spayed, vaccinated and placed into a home. Her new people loved her but got evicted from their home and "couldn't keep her". She came back to us at that point and she really needs a forever home.

She is a sweet girl, just lacking a little on the training. She gets along fine with most male dogs but she has issues with some females. Biscut and Gabby are great friends. They could be a good choice if you want two dogs. 4/14/12 we are changing Biscut to a Senior dog now.

This darling "tuxedo" girl Millie and her littermates were taken in by a kind young woman when their farm cat mom became ill. They were tiny and had to be bottle fed at first, but they are now healthy and happy and ready for their forever homes! Sorry, no picture available at this time for their sister "Ocean" a short haired white with black spots "odd-eyed" (one blue/one green) kitten.

The girls are good buddies and we would love to see them go together! "Link" is the long haired grey kitty & he loves to play with his toys. (They have had first shots and have been dewormed.)

As many already know, the Trio Animal Foundation was contacted about an emaciated female dog that was in dire need of medical attention.

The dog was initially spotted on the side of the road by a police officer and by the time her rescuers arrived, she had sought shelter in a discarded car tire. Consumed by fear, she made one last ditch effort to escape and ultimately found herself under the car of her rescuers.

Since TAF only pays for the medical bills of homeless animals and does not adopt them out, we contacted Project Rescue Chicago to see if they could take our battered girl into their program. Once they agreed, we picked Filly up and brought her in for emergency treatment.

Upon meeting this pup, we couldn’t help but notice on how much she looked like a newborn foal. Her long lanky legs could barely support her weight as she wobbled when she attempted to move. Because of this, and the upcoming Kentucky Derby, we have decided to name her Filly.

Once at the vet, the gravity of Filly’s medical condition fully began to sink in. It was far too uncomfortable for Filly to lie down so I had her rest her head on my shoulder and she stood as the doctor examined her. At times, Filly would pull her head back, look into my eyes and then gently lean her forehead against mine. It felt like the pain that resonated through her body went right to my heart.

As the exam progressed, blood started coming out of Filly’s back end and her body started to shut down. It was at that point that she was immediately rushed to the critical unit and put on supportive care.

Filly is now hospitalized and still on supportive care. At this point, we do know that she is suffering from malnutrition, dehydration, severe double ear infection, high fever and parasites. We will know more once her lab work comes back but it may be weeks before we know the full extent of her medical condition.

TAF is asking for donations to help cover Filly’s medical bills. Filly has a tough fight ahead of her and we want to make sure that we can provide her with the best medical care possible to ensure her quality of life.

Things have gone from bad to worse, for poor Roy. Roy entered the ACC system which is bad enough, but to enter the ACC system with a possible leg fracture? Awful. Roy is 3 years old and apart from the obvious issue at hand, seems to be a fairly healthy cat. The kind of cat who can heal from this episode and go on to live a happy life, given the chance. One of our volunteers just met this boy at animal control, and he was just sitting there with his nose all the way down to the ground all hunched over. He was so heartbroken and sad. He appreciated every single touch. All he needs is love. He was so gentle and quiet and calm and nervous and confused. In order to save him, we need at least $300 because he is heartworm positive. Ellie is a wonderful German Shephard, Golden Retriever Mix that is approximately 7 years old. She is amazingly affectionate and loves children and people. She likes walks, is good on a leash, not a barker and house-trained. She is definitely a dog who loves attention and makes all your worries go away. What a heartbreaker. Sadie was surrendered to the pound by her owner because they had to move to an apartment. She is spayed and housebroken.

Available for immediate adoption. Please help Sadie if you can, she is so scared to be in this environment. Sadie is bewildered as to why she was left at the pound, away from everything and everyone she knew. Some dogs adjust to pound life, and some don't...like poor Sadie.

She is very hard to approach, timid and runs, barks when you try to reach out to her, but if you open the pen door and ask if she wants to go in, she will follow you. Sadie feels safer in her pen, than being outside, where she goes to a corner of the pen and sits.

We hope someone can help this poor dog find stability and love once again. She is a beautiful dog!

This beautiful one is named Mommy Lyon (A19647071). She is a 1-2 year old, medium sized, 48 pound, black with some white, Terrier, Pitbull Mix. Mommy Lyon made her way to the shelter after being found as a stray. She is a bit timid at times but after some time she will start to become relaxed and show affection. Once Mommy Lyon is comfortable, she likes to have fun but can be a bit mouthy while playing. She will need an understanding adopter who will give Mommy Lyon time to adjust and train her to show her how to have nice doggy behavior. She has met a few dogs here and didn't really show much interest in saying hello. She is more interested in finding her new loving family. Please consider meeting this gorgeous gal. You see, when this person decided he/she had too many pets, it wasn't only one or two who were dumped. 8 CATS WERE DUMPED!!! They range in age from a few weeks, to several years. Peddie, Pepper, Robbie (all on tonight's list) as well as Bell, Dale, Dina, Smokey and Rosie (all still available for adoption) are all now fighting for their lives because their human didn't know when to say when, and didn't bother having the cats neutered or spayed. It's not their fault that their human was irresponsible.

But all the same, for Peddie, Pepper and Robbie, they are on death row. They need us now to start networking, sharing, saving!

Mom in Hagarstown, MD who is trying to avoid the shelter. Can anyone help?

"As of now I still have mom and her kittens but unless I can find someone to foster them, I have no choice but to let the humane society take them. Including mom and her 6 kittens, I have 22 cats in the house and 5 ferals outside whom I am feeding. Not only do I not have the room, I just cannot afford to take care of 27 cats. It’s not fair to them either as I cannot give that many cats enough individual attention (although I try). If you have a better idea, I’m all ears. Believe me, it’s not my first choice but I have no other alternative unless I get someone to step in and agree to foster them."

Subject: Help needed for dog finally out of bad situation - by: romy

Rhett will be heading to us this weekend, he is 9 years old has lived his whole life in a dirty pen and is in stage 3 of heartworm disease. This will be another hard medical case and we don't know where the funds will come for his treatment but we have faith and want to give Rhett hope.

He was orginally rescued by Bollinder Stray Pet Project. There vet didn't think that Rhett would be okay to go through treatment so nothing has been done. We have been talking to them about Rhett and how we have helped others this bad off get through HW treatment and live a happy healthy life.

Clearly she has had a liter (or two?) but she seems to hold no ill will, rather sits pretty and looks sad. She is gentle and kind and deserves a glance or two.

Rescue Procedures:

If you are 501-C3 there is no pull fee at this time. With a small staff and facility AC are unable to transport, hold animals for long periods, or have them vetted. If your organization is interested in an animal send your 501 paperwork along with persons allowed to pull and contact information to animal@lancastercountysc.net Their office must be notified before 5 pm on Friday to authorize someone to pull on Saturday. Rescues without a 501-C3 will be required to pay the regular adoption fee of $50.00.

URGENT: HELP!! PLEASE SHARE! RESCUE ONLY! I am NOT ACCEPTING CASH DONATIONS FOR THEM AT THIS TIME!

A man in Marianna FL is begging for help tonight! He is 58 years old and lost his job a while back. He has 15 animals that are/were starving to death. This man cries himself to sleep at night because he can not feed them. I know many of you will talk about the deplorable living conditions (and they are) of these dogs...but I can assure you the man is living in those same conditions himself. I asked the man if he needed anything for himself and he said "no...just please help my dogs!"

A friend and I took several huge bags of food and we will be taking more as it is needed while we work on finding rescue. We will also start getting them spayed and neutered. This man is willing to let many of them go... as long as they are not euthanized (unless medically necessary).

Many of them seem to need a little work on socializion skills before being placed in homes for this reason they are RESCUE ONLY.
