Meet your new best friend! Adopt a Pet at
Iliff Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on October 22nd
Dunn Loring, VA—Iliff Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is proud to present a lineup of adorable, adoptable canines at the center on Saturday, October 22 from noon until 4 PM. The event is open to the entire public.
The Friends of Homeless Animals, a Merrifield-based non-profit, no-kill shelter for abandoned or abused animals, will be on-hand in the center courtyard with up to a dozen healthy, spayed or neutered dogs. Each of these prime pooches would make a wonderful companion for the right person or family. Visitors can meet each of the dogs, talk to shelter staff and begin the adoption process. Also present will be Fairfax Pets-On-Wheels, a local volunteer organization that works with Iliff Nursing and Rehab to bring trained therapeutic animals to the center on a regular basis to help residents.
“Pets are wonderful medicine,” says Iliff’s Director of Activities and Volunteer Coordinator, Emily Atkinson, who organized the event. “For people of all ages and abilities, spending time with companion animals is shown to have wonderful effects. Interacting with a pet and caring for it can improve your mood and your overall health. We see this as part of our mission here at Iliff, not just for our residents but for the entire community we serve.”
Iliff Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a member of Revera Health Systems, is a 122-bed skilled nursing care center offering post-acute rehabilitation care and therapy after surgery or illness for adults of all ages, as well as pediatric, long-term, respite and hospice care.
